OpenSuSE 11.3 Standard installation

do the repo software updates. Give the Server a static IP. Open syslogd/udp/514 and http/tcp/80 in the firewall settings. SELinux Permisive.

Install following packets: syslog-ng, mysql-community-sever, gcc, perl-Date-Calc, gcc-c++, perl-DBD-mysql, make, php5, php5-gd, php5-mysql, apache2, apache2-mod-php5, libmysqlclient-devel

$ cpan Text::LevenshteinXS String::CRC32

change in /etc/sysconfig/syslog the Line:

SYSLOG_DAEMON="syslog-ng"
